Community Programs
The Connecticut Junior Republic's community-based programs focus on addressing emotional and behavioral problems in a child or youth's natural environment — including home, public school and town of residence.
Children as young as 10 years through college-age are helped by the Junior Republic's growing array of family-focused programs in locations throughout the state. Prevention and early intervention services are provided for boys, girls and families at-risk of serious problems in their homes, schools and neighborhoods. Intensive, home-based services are also available for youth and families in crisis as an alternative to residential placement. Additional services include support and monitoring for young people re-entering their homes and communities following discharge from a residential program as well as substance abuse treatment.
Depending upon the program, referrals may be made through the Courts, the Department of Children and Families (DCF), public schools, other service providers in the community, or by the family. An increasing number of CJR's community-based programs incorporate evidence-based practices as well as wraparound services that benefit the entire family.

Linking Youth to Natural Communities (LYNC)
Services Provided: Identifies individual behavioral needs, relevant services, and establishes connections with existing community resources for at-risk and court-involved children, youth and families.
Target Population: Boys and girls, ages 12 - 17, and their families.
Length of Program/Service: Six months average, based on individual needs.
Referral Source: Superior Court—Juvenile Matters.
Funding Agency: Judicial Branch Court Support Services Division (JBCSSD).

Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) Program
Services Provided: Evidence and strength-based substance abuse program designed to serve boys and girls in their homes and communities.
Target Population: Boys and girls, ages 9 to 18, and their families.
Length of Program/Service: 4 - 6 months, based on individual needs.
Referral Source: Superior Court-Juvenile Matters and Department of Children and Families (DCF) .
Funding Agency: Department of Children and Families (DCF).

Multisystemic Therapy-Family Integrated Therapy (MST-FIT) Program
Services Provided: MST-FIT is a family and community-based treatment for adolescents with complex clinical (including substance use), social and educational problems.
Target Population: Boys and girls, ages 12 to 18, and their families.
Length of Program/Service: 3 to 6 months.
Referral Source: Superior Court-Juvenile Matters.
Funding Agency: Judicial Branch, Court Support Services Division (JBCSSD)
MST-FIT is based in Waterbury with services provided across Connecticut.
Multisystemic Therapy (MST) Program
Services Provided: A unique family-focused, evidence-based program designed to serve boys and girls in their homes and communities.
Target Population: Boys and girls, ages 12 to 17, and their families.
Length of Program/Service: Average 3 - 5 months.
Referral Source: Superior Court-Juvenile Matters
Funding Agency: Judicial Branch Court Support Services Division (JBCSSD).

Teen Outreach Program (TOP)
Services Provided: School-based program consisting of group activities, community service with an emphasis on values, human growth and development, relationships and the social and emotional transition from adolescence to adulthood.
Target Population: 7th to 12th grade boys and girls.
Length of Program/Service: Two school years.
Referral Source: Schools, parents and youth service providers.
Funding Agency: Department of Social Services (DSS).
